Dear Teachers/Educators/Parents:
The Artist Series is pleased to be able to present you with a new concept that integrates a cross-discipline methodology for teaching math, science, history, and music.
Each of the performances of the 2010-2011 season will have an accompanying set of lesson plans and materials utilizing the pieces that each of the performers have chosen to play. We will analyze their content and create a series of short (half-hour) study guides that relate each set of concert music within these four disciplines: math, science, history, and music.
The material in these study guides targets toward grades 3-5 and are correlated with the Florida State Standards in each of the areas.
We hope that you enjoy these study guides! Since they are related to each Artist Series performance, we hope that you will use them the week before the scheduled performance. We will provide additional study guides for future scheduled performances at least one month before the performance date.
As our gift to you, the teacher/educator, we will provide 2 tickets to each performance for every teacher who uses these study guides in their classroom. Please confirm your intended attendance at the concert by e-mailing your name, your school name, and grade or subject to director@theartistseries.com and the tickets will be waiting for you at the front desk.
If you have any questions regarding the directions in any of the lesson plans, or encounter any problems opening the files or the resources indicated, please do not hesitate to write to the above e-mail address or call The Artist Series office at 850-224-9934.
Have a musical day!
